At 6 months, the baby needs one meal per day and water should be given only along with the meals for oral hygiene.
At 7 months, the baby should be on two meals per day.
At 8 months, the baby should be on two meals and a snack.
At 9 months, three meals and one snack per day.
10 months onwards, the baby should be on three meals and one snack for the rest of the life.
Let the baby decide the quantity of food.
Breastmilk remains the primary source of nutrition till one year of age and solids are complimentary.
Breastfeed first and offer solids 30-45 minutes after the nursing session. The time gap is ideal to take care of the baby as the baby may be hungry enough to take the solids and not spit them up.
