After 12 months (and up to 3 yrs.), only provide 100 percent fruit juice and no more than 4 ounces per day. It should be a fresh, homemade juice made using local, seasonal fruit, rather than a manufactured juice.
Serve the juice in a cup rather than a bottle.
To avoid tooth decay, do not put your child to bed with a bottle. Make sure it’s made of water if you do.
The urge for other foods, such as breast milk, formula, or both, is suppressed by juice. It’s important to note that feeding them too much juice is not recommended as it could cause excessive weight gain and other problems.
