By 12 months of age, your baby is able to mash small pieces of food with their gums and whatever teeth that they have grown.
It’s safe and recommended to offer a variety of foods to your baby at this stage.
Your baby requires 1000 calories each day along with plenty of calcium, iron, vitamins and minerals.
Following are some sample foods to offer your 12 month old.
Eggs – hard-boiled, peeled and cut into-bite sized pieces. Scrambled eggs without salt. Tofu bites. Chicken bites. Steamed broccoli, peas, bell peppers, gourds and carrots. Oatmeal.
Boiled and bite-sized potatoes and sweet potatoes. Cheese and cheddar cheese bite-sized. Whole fat dairy products including yogurt and paneer.
Offer foods from the family pot such as dal roti, dosa, idli, dhokla, etc.
