– Formula-fed babies, like breastfed babies, may start gently for 2 to 3 days, taking only 1-2 ounces (30-60 ml) at a time.
– After the first 2–3 days of birth, they’ll most likely drink 2–3 ounces (60-90 ml) every 3-4 hours.
– Your baby may sleep for 4-5 hours between feeds sometimes, but they will require a lot of milk during their first two months. So if they haven’t woken up to drink milk after 5 hours, it’s a good idea to wake them up and feed them.
– You can even explore waking them up after 3-4 hours during the day, which could help them get a few more hours of sleep at night.
These are just estimated quantities and each baby is different and so are their nutritional needs. Feeding your baby on demand is essential at this stage.
