Little ones aged around 5 months usually breastfeed every three to four hours. Although you should feed your baby every three to four hours, each breastfed child may differ significantly. After a feeding, it’s important that that the breasts have softened, the baby seems happy, and is gaining weight in a healthy way.
If you’re pumping breast milk, you undoubtedly want to know how many ounces are appropriate for a 5-month-old. 25 ounces (approximately 740 ml) of breastmilk should be given to a five-month-old every day. Hence, divide it by the average number of feedings your baby receives. If you feed your baby eight times a day, they should receive roughly 4 ounces (approximately 118 ml) of breast milk each time.
You can check your baby’s diapers to confirm that they are receiving enough breast milk. For a healthy 5-month-old, four or five completely wet diapers each day are considered normal.
