At 3 months of age, babies get the hang of breastfeeding or formula feeding in general. At the same time, parents or caregivers also become pros at recognizing the early hunger cues of the baby. However, it is recommended to feed your baby on demand until at least 6 months of age.
At three months old, a breastfed infant may feed eight times in a 24-hour period; formula-fed newborns typically eat less often, around every four hours.
Most of the time, a baby should breastfeed for at least 10 minutes, be able to be heard swallowing, and look happy. Babies who are bottle-fed at this age can consume up to 6 to 7 ounces (177–207 milliliters) at each meal.
