Early wakings do not have a straight-jacket answer. There may be multiple reasons for this, but some of the most common ones are as follows:
– Dirty diapers.
– Hunger due to lack of enough calorie consumption during the day.
– Overtiredness: A toddler who has gone to bed over tired could result in early wakings.
– Sleep associations: When in REM sleep the toddler may look toward an established sleep association like feeding or a pacifier and the lack of it could cause early waking.
– Completion of sleep needs in 24 hours or excess daytime sleep.
