As the toddler crosses one year of age, their sleep requirements change too. They may transition from 2-3 naps to 2 or even just one nap per day. Daytime sleep reduces to make way for longer night stretches.
Separation anxiety, which may kick in at 9-10 months, may peak during this period. Similarly, stranger anxiety could happen at this time. Toddlers feel a natural need for proximity to their primary caregivers.
Toddlers can understand the world around them a little better now, and it is easy to get overwhelmed by this exposure – but no worries! Extra cuddles will always come to the rescue, and support during bedtime can always help the toddler feel safe and comforted.
It is also important to limit exposure to screen time before bed, to avoid overstimulation since this can interfere with your child’s sleep quality as well.
