Why is the BCG vaccine given at birth?

BCG or Bacillus Calmette-Guerin is a vaccination that is given to prevent childhood TB or Tuberculosis.

Since TB is prevalent in India, Indian babies are at risk of childhood TB that seriously affects the lungs.
As TB is an infectious disease and passes through the air, it can be caught easily.

Hence, babies are given BCG at birth because the sooner your child is vaccinated for TB, the safer it would be for their health.

Get your baby BCG vaccinated in the first few days of birth. The sooner you get your baby BCG vaccinated, the better because we live in a TB prevalent country.
