Any child who has experienced a severe allergic reaction after receiving the influenza vaccine in the past or who has any severe, serious allergies to any vaccine ingredient should not get the flu vaccine.
Anyone with the neurological disorder known as Guillain-Barré Syndrome should not get flu shots.
Children who have a severe egg allergy should receive the vaccination in a facility with emergency services.
The vaccine can be given to your child even if they have a minor egg allergy (just rashes), but they should stay in the clinic for 30 minutes after getting the shot.
