Here’s a list of items that can be included in the diet of an 8-12 month-old baby is as follows:

Fruits: Cooked and pureed dry fruits, boiled mashed apples, ripe bananas, muskmelon, chikoo, papaya, grapes, mangoes, black raisins, and dates.

Vegetables: Boiled and peeled carrots and pumpkins, green leafy veggies, sweet potatoes, beets, peas, cooked potatoes, broccoli, and white potatoes.

Dairy foods: Ghee, butter, curd or yogurt, cottage cheese (paneer), and tofu.

Staple Foods: Soft rice with dal, soft khichdi with veggies, ragi malt, softened idli, curd rice, suji upma, halwa, wheat roti softened in dal or milk, broken wheat (dalia), and oat porridge are some of the cereals and grains available. You can also feed them chickpeas, urad dal, green gram, yellow moong dal, masoor dal, and white & black chana. (To make a powder, combine 1 cup dal with 3 cups dry rice roast. Keep it in an airtight container, and cook fresh before feeding. Add 1 tsp in 150 ml water to cook.)

For the first year of life, avoid adding salt or sugar.
(Note: Egg yolk is a non-vegetarian food.)
